Student Discipline Code

Teaching and learning are most effective in a safe and orderly environment. Inappropriate behavior will be addressed effectively and consistently using the below ladder of referral. Categories of inappropriate student behaviors are characterized by the position of the person responsible for immediate intervention. The categories are Teacher, Assistant Principal and Dean’s Office. Please see the Citywide Behavioral Expectations (link) for the Student Intervention and Discipline Code.

School Safety Intervention

  • Lateness to class
  • Calling out
  • Listening to music
  • Cheating or academic dishonesty
  • Not engaged in accountable talk
  • Cutting class
  • Throwing papers or objects
  • Eating or drinking in class
  • Unexcused absence from class
  • Failure to do homework
  • Vandalism in the classroom
  • Failure to have school ID
  • Writing on school property
  • Being unprepared
  • Using obscene or offensive language
  • Extremely disruptive behavior
  • Using slurs
  • Using a cell phone or other disruptive electronic device
  • Extreme vandalism
  • Possession of a weapon
  • Sexual harassment, aggression or bullying
  • Possession, use, or sale of illegal drugs
  • Theft
  • Smoking or gambling
  • Threatening behavior
  • Threatening violence or the use of an instrument
  • Falsely activating a fire alarm
  • Causing injury
  • Graffiti
  • Using force against others
