MAST High School Trivia Competition Rules

1. General Overview:

  • The competition is open to all four houses: House of Love, House of Equity, House of Perseverance, and House of Legacy.
  • The game will be hosted on the Zoom platform using Kahoot in Team Mode.

2. Team Participation:

  • Each advisory group will compete as a team.
  • Advisories must sign in under their respective team name.
  • A total of 6 laptops per advisory will be allowed to join the Kahoot game in Team Mode.

3. Player Roles:

  • Each advisory will select 1 student representative to submit answers on behalf of the team.
  • All other students in the advisory can assist the representative during the decision-making process.

4. Teacher Guidelines:

  • Teachers are prohibited from providing any assistance, hints, or answers during the competition.

5. Competition Structure:

  • The game will consist of 45 multiple-choice questions.
  • Questions will cover the following topics:
    • Questions about information related to Post-Secondary Readiness and Career Options Explored during Empowerment Day!

6. Time Limits:

  • Teams will have a total of 5 minutes after the bell to log into the game and enter the laptop for the their Team. 
  • Teams will have 5 seconds to confer before the timer begins for each question.
  • The timer for answering will be either:
    • 10 seconds (for shorter/easier questions)
    • 20 seconds (for longer/more difficult questions).

7. Resource Restrictions:

  • All electronic devices must be put away and shut down except the laptop used to compete.
  • Students may not use any external resources, including:
    • Internet
    • Additional laptops
    • Phones
    • Books or notes
    • Siri, Alexa or other sources.

8. Scoring and Fair Play:

  • Points will be awarded based on accuracy and speed.
  • Teams found violating any rules (e.g., using prohibited resources or receiving teacher help) will be disqualified.

9. House Spirit:

  • Students are encouraged to wear their house colors and display enthusiasm to promote school spirit and will receive 10 additional points for their house  if all advisory members wear their house shirts.
  • Remember to show respect and good sportsmanship toward all competitors.

10. Winning and Prizes:

  • The house with the highest total score at the end of the game will be declared the winner. There will be points for 2nd and 3rd place.
